Vocabulary

We use the Sadlier-Oxford Vocabulary Workshop series.  Please use one of the following websites to review your words before a test.

Vocabulary Workshop

Click on...
1) Version - 2005
2) Choose your level - the level you are currently working on
3) Choose the user - student

Click "Go To."

Then click on "Games & Puzzles."  Visit "iWords Audio" to hear the words, definitions, synonyms, and antonyms read aloud to you.

Hangman (sentence completion) and Multiple Choice (definitions; some synonyms & antonyms) are some of the games that will prepare you the most for the test.  The flash cards are helpful, but they only provide the definition (not the synonyms and antonyms).

This website can provide review for a variety of words.  If you are an ambitious student and really want to get ahead, check out the other vocab areas that can help you prepare for the ISEE and HSPT.

On the right side of the page, click on the Vocabulary Workshop Book Level you need

Here you can choose the single unit you want to review or pick multiple units for those review tests.

Then you can pick from many different games that will thoroughly help you prepare for your test.  The best thing about this site is that you get focused practice with the synonyms and antonyms in addition to the sentences and definitions.  I recommend using the reverse games as well to push your brain to access the words you've studied in a new way.  This will help you to retain the information better.
